Return what physically came back
Do not assume the complete bundle returned when only one item arrived. Match the received item to its physical SKU and condition.
Separate refund from restock
A financial refund and a stock movement answer different questions. Restock only the item and quantity that are actually sellable at the chosen location.
Business example
A returned gift set has one damaged product
Two candles can be resold, but the diffuser is damaged and should not return to available stock.
| Returned product | Received | Restock |
|---|---|---|
| Candle | 2 | 2 |
| Diffuser | 1 | 0 |
- Inspect each returned product
- Restock only the two sellable candles
- Record the damaged diffuser separately
